Apple has released iOS 12.1.3 update couple days ago after testing it out across four betas. Apple also rolled out tvOS 12.1.2, macOS 10.14.3 and watchOS 5.1.3 with several bug fixes and security improvements. As iOS 12.1.3 update is only minor bug fixes, it does not have any new features, well, except for one.
But one thing I noticed is that if you insert your earphones and no audio is being played on your iPhone, the volume automatically lowers itself. Have you noticed this in previous iOS update versions? No I did not.
So this is the most interesting and only new feature in the latest iOS 12.1.3 Update.
What else are the features of iOS 12.1.3 Update?
For its iPhone and iPad, iOS 12.1.3 Update takes care of an issue in the Messages app that could impact scrolling through photos in the Details view. It also fixed the issue in which photos could have striped artifacts after it gets sent from the Share Sheet.
The iOS 12.1.3 Update fixed an issue that may cause audio distortion when using external audio input devices on iPad Pro (2018). And it resolves a problem that could cause certain CarPlay systems to disconnect from iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max devices, as reported earlier.
iOS 12.1.3 Update also brings patches for other issues related to the HomePod speaker. What’s new here, it now prevents unnecessary restart of the HomePod. Siri also stopped listening on the HomePod prior to this update (that hurts). However, the latest update now takes care of that. Phew!
Apple has released updates to iOS 12 earlier with previous update versions being iOS 12.1, iOS 12.1.1 and iOS 12.1.2 which includes fixes and features over time. Although a single update does not fix all issues or bring major change, it’s good to know that the company rolls out updates on regular basis. After all, you’ve paid a good amount for the cool and classy gadget and flashed it through your mirror selfies.
